Reconstructing large-scale, often derelict buildings can be a time-consuming and expensive endeavor. Thirty years of experience renovating mill buildings has afforded Metric an understanding of the intricacies involved, including preventing potential safety issues, mitigating costs, and restoring historic details. We use knowledge from past projects to educate the team, preparing them for any possible complications.
Starting with the design phase, we work closely with the owner and architect to create a realistic design and budget. Armed with a team of experienced subcontractors, we preserve or restore as much as we can, conserving the character of the original building. Many of our projects have won awards from preservation societies on the local as well as the national level. Notable restorations include landmarks such as the Charleston Chew Chocolate Factory, the Old Salem Jail, and the East Boston Bra Factory.
